Freehold – Brooklyn, NY

New York City

It had been a while since we were last in NYC, but boy were we surprised by how ~cool~ Brooklyn has gotten. After stopping at Smorgasburg for lunch, we took a stroll through Williamsburg and ended up at Freehold, the coolest little garage-fronted coffee shop. As if the design wasn’t enough for us to fall in love with it, the music choice was great (they were playing a BRONCHO album when we walked in), creating […]

Holborn Grind – London, England

London

Holborn Grind is one of the many “Grind” coffee shops in London. They have several other locations – London Grind, Soho Grind, Shoreditch Grind, etc. – and each of them has something unique about it. Some commonalities include cool neon signs with different quotes, delicious pastries/cakes, and amazing coffee. Each of them also turns into a cocktail bar at night; London Grind has one of my favorite drinks ever – the Clover Club. We stopped […]

Fábrica Coffee Roasters – Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon

Located just a street away from the main square in Chiado, Fábrica was one of the coolest coffee shops we found. We stopped there for breakfast one morning and liked it so much that we went again on our last day in Lisbon. With lots of different pockets of seating and eclectic decor, this place has the coffee shop vibe down perfectly. The baristas were also extremely friendly and helpful – we’d definitely recommend a visit!

LXFactory – Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon

One of the most unique places we visited in Lisbon was LXFactory, an eclectic collection of restaurants and shops housed in an old industrial complex. There you can find everything from an independent magazine shop (located in a repurposed shipping container) to a tattoo parlor, a boutique that carries solely wooden products (think phone cases, wallets, watches, etc.), and a bookstore with books stacked from floor to ceiling – on three floors! There are a million […]

Lisbon

We went to Portugal this week and had an amazing time! While we were there we found some really cool places that we’re so excited to share with you! The first is Hello, Kristof, the cutest little coffee shop that houses a collection of awesome independent magazines like Kinfolk, Cereal, and Lagom (just to name a few). It’s located in the Bairro Alto neighborhood of Lisbon, which is full of cool restaurants and bars. We […]

El Pastór – London, England

London

Authentic Mexican food is hard to find in London. Luckily, this taqueria just opened a few weeks ago near Borough Market. They don’t take reservations, and we waited over two hours to get a table on a Thursday night, but it was worth it! They make fresh tortillas on a daily basis, and their tacos are all sold individually, giving you the opportunity to try a bunch of different ones. We’d highly recommend the carnitas – […]

Flat Iron Square – London, England

London

This weekend, we discovered the coolest little market in London – Flat Iron Square. This truly is a hidden gem. We couldn’t believe how quiet it was, especially with it being so close to the perpetually-packed Borough Market! Under a bridge archway is an outdoor bar with live music, and about 10 different artisan food stalls are tucked away inside, with everything from ramen to pizza and Mexican food. On Sundays, they host a flea […]
